Dear Parents, Carers, and the Taqwa School Community,
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
It is with great honour and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Taqwa School. First and foremost, I thank Allah (SWT) for this opportunity He has given me. I would like to personally thank Br Abdul Salam Durrani (Chairman of the Board) and all the Members of the Taqwa School Board for appointing me as the new Principal, a role I commenced on 22 September 2025. I pray to Allah (SWT) to guide me and make my tenure smooth and easy, insha’Allah.
I am honoured to join this vibrant and values-driven learning community, and I look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure every student thrives academically, socially, and most importantly, Islamically—following our Creator’s commands and practising our beloved Prophet’s (PBUH) Sunnah, insha’Allah.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Br Fethullah Erdogan (Acting Principal) for enabling a smooth transition. I would also like to acknowledge all previous principals, staff, parents, and volunteers for their time and efforts. May Allah (SWT) reward them all in the Hereafter.
My journey in education began many years ago, but my story starts in Bursa, Türkiye, where I was born. In 1970, at the age of seven, I migrated to Australia with my family. I completed my primary, secondary, and tertiary education in Melbourne, and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) degree, majoring in Geography, History, and English. These early experiences shaped my deep appreciation for cultural diversity, resilience, and the importance of serving my community.
With over three decades of experience in education—including ten years in public government schools, fifteen years in independent schools, and eleven years in Islamic schools across Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and now the ACT—I bring a broad and balanced perspective to school leadership. My passion lies in generating and designing environments where students feel safe, respected, and inspired to reach their full potential in an Islamic environment.
As we begin this new chapter together, my focus will be on:
-
High expectations for all learners, supported by quality teaching and learning.
-
Wellbeing and belonging, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and included.
-
Faith and character development, guided by the principles of Islamic ethos.
-
Community engagement, where families are welcomed as active partners in their child/children’s education.
Commitment to Safety
At Taqwa School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a secure and supportive environment where every child feels protected and cared for. Our school follows comprehensive safety policies aligned with both Islamic values and the Department of Education’s standards. These include child safety protocols, emergency preparedness, digital safety, and clear behaviour expectations. We encourage open communication and welcome your support in reinforcing these values at home. Together, we can ensure a safe and positive experience for all members of our school community.
I am also blessed to be supported by my wife of 40 years, Rumeysa, and our four children—Abdullah, Reyyan, Nurbanu, and Mustafa—as well as our beloved grandchildren: Asel, Bilal, Umeyr, and Dua. My family has always been a source of strength and inspiration, and I bring that same sense of care and commitment to the Taqwa School community.
I am excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students, staff, and families. Please know that my door is always open, and I welcome your ideas, feedback, and involvement. I will allocate two time slots where parents can walk in and see me about anything related to their child/children’s education or about the school in general. These times are 8:45 am to 9:15 am and 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm. I can also be available through appointments—just call one of our two friendly Front Office staff to arrange a suitable time.
Together, let’s continue to make Taqwa School a place where every student shines with knowledge, character, and faith.
I look forward to meeting every one of you during Term 4 and Term 1 next year.
May Allah (SWT) keep us all on His Straight Path and help us follow His beloved Prophet Hazreti Muhammed Mustafa’s (PBUH) Sunnah always, Ameen. O Allah, make us among those who listen to the word and follow the best of it. Make us guides who are rightly guided, not astray nor leading others astray. Grant us sincerity in our words and actions. Place this work in the scale of our good deeds. Make us a means for the upliftment of our Ummah and grant us a beautiful ending, Ameen.
Kindest regards,
Br Kadir Emniyet
Principal
