Quran
The Quran program teaches students from Kindergarten to Year Six the essential skills of learning the Quran such as Qira’ah and Tajweed (Reading), Hifdh (Memorisation) and Muraaj’ah (Revision).
Islamic Studies
Islamic Studies covers the fundamental tenets of Islam. What students learn in Islamic Studies is essential knowledge they will find relevant throughout the various stages of their lives.
Arabic
Students participate in two Arabic lessons each week. They learn to communicate through speaking, listening, reading and writing. They learn the fundamentals of pronunciation and intonation.
Literacy
Each morning the students participate in a literacy learning session. This covers Australian Curriculum content including: reading, writing, speaking, listening, spelling and grammar.
Numeracy
Students participate in Mathematics classes 6 times a week. In the early years, Mathematics is taught using lots of hands on objects and the primary focus is on developing a conceptual understanding.
Social and Emotional Learning
Creating and maintaining friendships at school is a very important part of your child’s learning. Children are explicitly taught how to share, be kind and include each other in learning and play.
Health and Physical Education
The students participate in daily fitness lessons and one specialty Physical Education (PE) lesson per week.
Project Based Learning
At Taqwa School we provide students with the opportunity to learn through a variety of integrated projects. This simply means that the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Health, Information Technology and The Arts are taught together to offer a deeper learning focus.
